MCF5212微控制器是一种低成本、小功耗单片式处理器解决方案，最高可配置256KB高性能、近乎单点接入、隔行扫描的可靠嵌入式闪存。而且，MCF5212嵌入式控制器通信外设可以很方便地连接其他控制系统。三种通用异步收/发器（UART）可与其他控制系统或计算机进行中距离或长途通信。内部集成电路(I2C)和队列式串行外设接口（QSPI）可供系统内部与连接的外设和系统通信，包括LCD和键盘。所有这些功能全部通过高性能V2 ColdFire内核提供，而且还包含了乘加器 (MAC)完成类似DSP的功能。
