Abstract:
Most portable electronic products, use a Li-Ion or Li-polymer battery inside as the power source and it needs to be recharged for continued use and portability. The Li-Ion or Li-polymer battery requires a trickle current, constant current and constant voltage charge mode in a charge cycle. The current and voltage should be accurately controlled during the charging. Based on the SMARTMOS™ technology, Freescale now provides ultra-high accuracy battery charger solutions to simplify the system design requiring the fewest components, resulting in the smallest size and helping to provided end product cost reduction. On the other hand, Freescale's battery charger integrated circuits (ICs) family offers significant advantages and flexibility in battery charging applications. Factory-programmable allow customers to choose desired specifications such as pin-out, feature set and charging parameters. The IC is then customized by Freescale via a digital interface before shipping.
